🇺🇸 Happy Presidents' Day! 🇺🇸
Today, we celebrate one of America's most important holidays — Presidents' Day! 🇺🇸 But what is it, and why do we observe it?
📅 What is Presidents' Day?
Presidents' Day, officially known as Washington's Birthday, honors the birthdays of two of the most iconic U.S. Presidents: George Washington (born February 22, 1732) and Abraham Lincoln (born February 12, 1809). The holiday is celebrated on the third Monday in February each year.
🇬🇧 The History Behind the Holiday
The holiday originally began in 1885 to honor George Washington, the first U.S. President, but was later moved to the third Monday in February as part of the Uniform Monday Holiday Act, creating a long weekend for the American people.
Although Presidents' Day no longer officially honors only Washington, it is still seen as a day to reflect on the contributions of all U.S. Presidents, from Washington to modern leaders.
